Advantages and way of SME's participation

NEP-AL IT is of high interest for all corporate realities operating in either ICT or in the countries involved as partners of the project. The basic requirement that these realities have to satisfy is their belonging to the small and medium enterprises category, as defined by the law in force in the country where they operate. For instance, in Italy these parameters state maximum 250 employees and a maximum annual turnover of euro 50 millions. Beyond the basic requirement, there are other features which are particularly taken into consideration by the EU and are common to all European projects: ethics, transparency and corporate social responsibility. To these core values have to added others such as potentiality of internationalisation, a virtuous financial administration and effectiveness of the management plan.

In exchange, the companies will be able to exploit all the advantages of being part of the project:

  • national and international visibility during and after the conclusion of the project;
  • visibility through the project web portal;
  • information on ICT markets of participating countries thanks to dedicated business studies;
  • direct contacts with other 160 companies of the sector, in Italy, Eastern Europe, and Asia;
  • direct contacts with institutions (i.e. Chambers of Commerce) of involved countries;
  • credit, through selection by the project team, of participation to a EU-funded project;
  • participation to the match-making event in Nepal in September 2008 (technical assistance by the staff of the five Chambers of Commerce, organisation of the business meetings in advance through the web portal and personnel's assistance, organisation of travel and accommodation in Nepal);
  • technical assistance in support of possible business agreements signed during the project;
  • EU economic incentive to the participation (€1,200 per company until the total number of participants will equal the funds available).

Obviously, the ones listed above are just some example among the specific advantages that each single reality could benefit from. In this sense, the list has to be intended as only indicative rather than exhaustive.
